Google sticks with VP8, opposes Cisco’s push to make H.264 the default codec for WebRTC

Cisco may have landed a surprise coup to push for H.264, but Google still thinks that VP8 is the best codec for real-time communication on the web.

Welcome to the world of standardization. So far for WebRTC. Personaly I would prefer the real open VP8 codec in stead of the, in base dejure ITU standard H.264 because time has learned the defacto standards always has beaten the ITU standards.
