UK needs 21,000 more IT workers by 2050 than previously predicted

The tech sector is ahead of the curve in IT recruitment figures, but the increase in UK startups means demand is increasing.

The UK is in need of at least 21,000 more IT staff by 2050 than previously predicted due to a surge in tech startups, according to a report from recruitment agency Randstad Technologies.

A previous report from Randstad revealed the IT workforce would need to grow by 5,000 each year from 2008 to create a workforce of 510,000 by 2050. But to satisfy the long-term needs of the country, this target figure has increased.

How To Be A Better Leader By Rewiring Your Brain

See on Scoop.itAbout leadership

Controlling the way your brain responds to emotions isn’t as complicated as it sounds. A psychologist explains the steps that will change your behavior.

As a leader, you can’t let emotions like stress, fear, or anger control your behavior. Although it takes time to perfect, there are ways to control your negative emotions and guide your responses.

Dr. Casey Mulqueen, a psychologist and the director of research and product development at leadership training company Tracom Group, says executives can leverage psychology to be better leaders and get more out of their employees. Mulqueen, who has done consulting work for companies ranging from Victoria’s Secret to Lockheed Martin, trains executives to harness what he calls “Behavioral Emotional Intelligence.”

The concept is based on Emotional Intelligence (EQ), the ability to recognize, understand, and control your own and others’ emotions.

That conversation persuaded me to research further the difference between these two concepts and to contemplate what a supporting solution stack to enable a next generation of applications from these two trends might look like.

If you have to travel for business – or indeed pleasure – you will know the pain to your wallet of using your mobile abroad.

Roaming charges are insanely high across the globe and recent research has showed more people are opting to switch their phones off rather than incur the plethora of charges put on them by mobile operators.
